Obsidian Design, LLC, a Portland, Oregon based interior architecture design firm, was founded in 2016 by Chelsea Rodgers. Obsidian is committed to serving our customers with excellence. In 2021 we obtained for our clients over 30 permits in 18 different cities and have completed dozens of dental projects alone since 2016, we are proud of the fact that over 90 percent of our work is a result of referrals from clients, brokers and contractors. Obsidian Design is a certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) and Emerging Small Business (ESB).

Our strategy is relationship building. We understand that referrals are our most powerful marketing tool. We  strive to solve the inevitable problems that arise in this business with creativity, warmth and humor.

Environment & Sustainability

We work with responsible contractors and seek to minimize demolition, recycle materials and specify recycled and sustainable materials in our designs.

Chelsea Rodgers, the Principal of Obsidian design has over 15 years in the industry. She has a degree in Interior Design from The Art Institute of Portland as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Oregon. She lives with her husband, 2 children, 2 dogs, and 2 cats, In the rare moments she when she is not working she can be found camping out or at home enjoying her family. Family time at one of the area's restaurants, pubs or parks is one of her favorite things to do.

Bruce Rodgers, Chelsea's father has a complimentary skill set as a graphic designer and illustrator (portfolio here). Bruce is the permit wrangler for Obsidian, drafting permit drawings and negotiating all the various jurisdiction's online portals and paper submissions. He also created the website and does marketing and business development. When he is not doing Obsidian work he enjoys playing music, getting outdoors and time with Mom and the boss's family.
